"Raw Power" stands as the third studio album by the American rock band the Stooges, credited as Iggy and the Stooges. Released on February 7, 1973, by Columbia Records, the album marked a departure from the groove-oriented, emotion-driven songs of the band's initial two records. Instead, it embraced a more anthemic hard rock approach influenced by the addition of new guitarist James Williamson, who collaborated with singer Iggy Pop in writing the album's eight songs. Pop took on the role of producer during the recording sessions, with post-production assistance from David Bowie. Despite having only one day to mix the album, resulting in poor fidelity, subsequent reissues have aimed to rectify or enhance the original mix. Notably, Iggy Pop's 1997 remix gained notoriety for its extreme volume and compression.
